Date Nut Bread
Joyce Forsythe always uses this recipe for holiday meals and is serves it with cream cheese. This recipe originally came from Jessie Forsythe.

Ingredients
1 package of pitted dates
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup boiling water - Sift together:
1 cup sugar
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon baking powder
1 beaten egg
1 cup chopped walnuts,

How To Cook
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cut up the dates and put them into a small bowl. Sprinkle the baking soda on them, then the cup of boiling water and let them cool so the hot water doesn't cook the eggs when you mix everything together.
3. Add to the sifted ingredients to the eggs, chopped walnuts and the cooled dates.
4. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
