Date-Chocolate Chip Cake

How to Cook:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees ferenheit. 2. Cut up each dates into 3 pieces.
3. Put the dates into a small bowl and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon or baking soda.
4. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over the dates and set aside to cool.
5. Sift together:
      1 cup of sugar
      2 cups of flour
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      2 teaspoon baking powder
6. Into the dry things, stir 1 beaten egg. The batter will be very dry. Don't mix it much until you add the other moist ingredients.
7. Add the cooled date mixture and stir. Now, it will look like cake batter. Spread this in a rectangular cake pan. You want a medium sized pan. One of the square pans results in too thick a cake, and a large rectangular pan results in too thin a cake.
8. Sprinkle the top with a mixture of:
      1 cup of sugar
      1 cup of chopped walnuts
      1 cup of chocolate chips
9. Put in oven and bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
