Chili Con or Sin Carne - Serves 6
This recipe is from the Better Homes & Gardens Cook Book that Kay & Mike received for a wedding present in 1961!

Ingredients
3 tablespoon oil
1 large onion, diced
1 green pepper, chopped
1 pound ground beef (if desired)
1 large can (1 pound 20 ounces) tomatoes (or more)
dash paprika
dash cayenne pepper
1 to 2 tablespoon chili powder
3 whole cloves
1 bay leaf

How To Cook
1. In the oil, brown the onion, green pepper and beef.
2. Add the can of tomatoes, paprika, cayenne pepper, chili powder in the pan.
3. In a cheesecloth bag or tea holder, put in the cloves and bay leaf.
4. Cover and simmer for 1 to 2 hours, adding water if necessary.
5. Add 1 or 2 cans of various beans that you like; Corn is also a good addition.
6. Heat thoroughly; removed the bagged spices.
7. Add salt and pepper to taste.
