Agedeshi Tofu (Japanese Fried Tofu) |

Ingredients 2 blocks firm tofu 1 cup dashi soup stock or instant dashi 1 tablespoon soya sauce 1 tablespoon mirin 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (optional) potato startch or corn starch for during tofu vegetable oil for frying Note: Mirin and Dashi soup stock can be found in Asian supermarkets How To Cook 1. Wrap tofu with paper towel and place it on a cutting board. 2. Put another cutting board or a plate on top the tofu to remove water from tofu. 3. Put dashi, soy sauce, and mirin in a pan and heat. 4. When the sauce boils, set aside. 5. Dry tofu with paper towel and cut each tofu in half. 6. Dust tofu with corn starch - all sides. 7. Fry tofu in 350 degrees oil until it turns brown. 8. Place each fried tofu in a small dish and pour the sauce over it. 9. Put grated ginger on top of each tofu (optional). |
